Bottle

Red pottery. engraved band at base of neck.

Narrow-necked jar/bottle with an ovate body, flaring neck, flat rim, no handles, and a flat base. No molded/modeled additions. The vessel has a red slip and a band of incised geometric design at the base of the neck. There appears to be a burnished finish on the exterior. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is orange and red in color. Fireclouding is present on the body. The catalogue number is written on the object in black ink on the bottom of the base. Black ink on the bottom of the base reads: "1606."
