Vessel

In the shape of a fish; preserved in fragments but since repaired

Narrow-necked jar/bottle with an effigy-zoomorphic body, flaring neck, rounded rim, no handles, and a flat base. The vessel is shaped like a fish and is painted with red and white stripes. The other features of the fish (eyes, face, etc.) are also painted red and white. There appears to be a burnished finish on the exterior and a smoothed finish on the interior. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is orange in color. Fireclouding is present on the body. The catalogue number is written in black ink on the interior of vessel. No other numbers are visible on the object.
