Description | The section is oval except towards the ends, where it is circular. The fibre string, wound with fibres smeared with gum, is also whipped at intervals with yellow plant cuticle, and is not made fast to the stave, as in the case of 29-89-2, etc. Two small twisted fibre rings smeared with gum act as stops for the string, one near each end of the stave. Between these the stave is covered with 3 tubes of woven yellow (natural) and red (dyed) plant cuticle. The ends of the tubes are made fast with whipping of the same material. The woven pattern consists of transverse bands of red lozenges. See Frizzi, Baessler-Archiv, Sup. VI (1914), p. 42. |
