Description

Individual communion bowl (kaukau). Double fish and scroll motif pedestal. These bowls are used for private communion rites of a worshipper and his tutelary. (Apira ni mwane are used for group rites.) Men use these kaukau on Santa Catalina. Only women use them on Santa Ana (but none have shell inlay nor may they have any of the motifs associated with the ritual communion bowls).
