Description | Three dimensional puppet with wooden torso, wooden head, wooden arms, articulated at shoulder and elbows, cotton skirt from waist down. Puppet is held and operated by a wooden stick which passes through a hole in the torso and into the base of the head and by sticks attached to the hands.Face and neck greenish gray, rest of skin gold. Round black eyes, tiny nose, open mouth with two fangs (simian features). Black hair curving to top of head, crown, ear ornaments sumping. red and blue ornaments at upper arms. red at wrists. Red talons. Short purple chest cover edged with narrow gold braid. Red sash with light blue brocase band. Batik skirt; brown/crema/dark blue over all pattern of diagonal patterened stripes with floral sprays over them. Written on torsso; KIO/LUAR/KAPUHU. Male character, may be used either in Mahabharata or Ramayana. |
