Description | Sommerville: Alabaster. Nero, fifth Emperor of Rome, and Poppaea, his wife. Tenerae, Case XX. Vermeule: Mottled Agate. Cameo. (Silver pendant? broken) Jugate busts to right., of an imperial personage and his consort. Sommerville identifies these as Nero and Poppaea. The features of Nero are copied freely from a coin. XVth of XVIth cent. work. |
