Description | Carved wood; conical with detachable wooden "Stock". Outside of hat nicely painted in red and black, rather faded. bear(?) motif on front, ravens(?) on either side and undecipherable motif on back. "Stock" carved one piece of wood, pegs into top of hat; has four "rings" or sections which ordinarily are of basketry with hole in top of top one and traces of red paint. Hat has hole broken in one side hear top and other cracks; bad crack has been mended with metal bands and nails inside. |
