Description | Cofradia, soft weave red cotton with broad white stripes through center forming a cross, on the red are occasional paired narrow white stripes, central block of cross embroidered with two small burros and five small birds in red green and lavender cotton, red cotton thread- madder dye, purple cotton thread- plobably synthetic [Robert Carlsen 1984]. As per Sigrid Meier, "Warp: 24 epi, 2 singles, Z twist, red cotton. 30 epi, single, Z twist, white cotton (wool?). Weft: 14 ppi, 2 singles, Z twist, red cotton. 1 single, Z twist, white cotton. Warp plain weave. Supplemental weft - two faced. 1 panel - 3 selvedges. Made on a backstrap loom." |
