Description

Carinated cup of unusual form; convex upper section; rounded carination; pronounced foot; strap handle; concentric string marks. Fine pinkish white to pinkish gray (7.5 YR 7-8/2) clay covered with black paint, wiht decoration in added red and added white paint. Completely painted, including bottom of base. Added red: bands below rim, at carination, and on lower body. Added white: zigzag motif with added dots between two upper red bands; band on base. Restored from fragments; some sherds missing, including most of the handle; surface eroded; handle restored incorrectly (too high). Comments: MM IB-IIA. The shape is similar to Hawes et al. 1908: fig. 40, no. 3 (Gournia) and Dawkins 1902-03: 305, fig. 4, no. 2 (Palaikastro).
