Description

A crack in the floor at one side; edges broken away. Good green patina. Shallow dished bowl with rounded bottom; rim thickened, flat on top. Cast? At opposite sides half-bolster attachments, each fastened to the wall by two dowels: hammered rivet heads inside and out. Bolster spooled, with raised mouldings at center and ends: flat mouldings with grooves along edges, the end ones stepped up at top to rounded knobs (not studs) rising above rim. Swivelling handles tapered bronze rods, thick at center, bent to ovals and suspended from sockets in ends of bolsters. The handles hang below the bottom of the bowl. Handle moldings bead and reel center and sides. Below rim 5 drilled holes each side bolster for dowels to attach spools: one survives in place, semi-cylindrical and waisted, its bottom flat, top domed and stepped out over rim.
