Description | A spinning wheel in the "new" style. (At least 10 years old at the time of acquisition, 1981). It is used for spinning thread and filling bobbins. An extended worked wood handle attaches to the mounting base of the wheel. The hub is a piece of bottle gourd. The wheel has a ladder construction. An iron handle extends as a crank from the hub. The spindle whorl is also a piece of wood and fits over the far end of the handle. |
