Description | This is a kokyu, a stringed instrument unique to Japan. This type of instrument is similar to a shamisen but the smaller size and presence of the tall peg makes it a kokyo rather than a shamisen. Varnished wood, dark brown handle and projection. Light brown body, no ornamentation; peg-arm. Three detached, can be dissembled. Sound box is square, covered with stretched skin and three pegs. Good condition, few gouges in skin.
