Description

Hollowed-out wooden shell. There is a carved sun with gold gilt above a shirtless man with his arms outstretched over his head. There are holes through the wood to represent the man's eyes, nose, and mouth. There is a diamond shaped hole at one end and a circular hole at the other.

Musical Instrument Card: Wooden egg-shaped body with human figure carved on back side, below a once gold-painted sun. Figure has raised arms and eyes, mouth and nostrils are carved through. Membrane front held by ornately cut out white leather bands also once gold painted. Dark wooden end spike and carved rings. Neck carved also at base with rings. Peg box carved with rings of Ivory. 2 lateral pegs. Poor condition. All pieces detached. No membrane remains, no strings. No bow. Length of body 23 cm. Max width 15.5 cm; length neck 31.5 cm. length peg box 16.5 cm. length end spike 14. cm.
