Description | Ornamented Gourds. With burnt decoration. Used for storage of small articles; some were also used for storing oil. Geometric incised and blackened decoration. Four panels each containing a large X are incised around body of the gourd; inbetween two of these panels are a diamond motif with cross hatch pattern in the back ground and blackended V shapes, layered; eight pointed cut out at top; sixteen brass tacks on outer side of rim. Stem end cut out in form of 8 pointed star to make like. Top studded with brass-headed nails. Incised and blackened geometric decoration. |
