Description | Miniature Afghan rug made in the Museum (Afghan Carpet Exhibition of 1973) by Mohammed Ewaz Badghisi and Family using traditional weaving techniques. The central design depicts the 1970's UP Museum logo of a stylized Egyptian pharaoh and Mesoamerican warrior in black on a cream ground. Dark red and black with flecks of cream border. Fringe at top and bottom. ["According to Gillian, they had planned to weave a portrait of President Nixon in the space. They changed this to the logo the museum was using in the early 1970s"] |
