Description | Flat base, Y-neck, bird at junction of neck-handle, plain bottle with connected curved handle and spout (with small bird) on top Stirrup necked jug with a carinated body, no neck/collar, pointed rim, 1 stirrup handle on the body, and a flat base. There is a modeled bird on the stirrup spout with incised wings. There appears to be a burnished finish on the exterior. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing and reducing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is orange and gray in color. Fireclouding is present on the base. Evidence of usewear includes surface attrition on the bottom/base. The catalogue number is written on the object in black ink. Black ink on the bottom of the base reads: "3124." |
