Description | Dome-shaped crown of open-weave of split grass fiber to which a rectangular backpiece is attached by strands of twisted grass fiber; back piece flares outward at bottom and consists of an open frame wrapped in red cotton thread, cross shaped supports in center and looped designs between; three inch wide strip of red cotton cloth extends across bottom from the center of which hangs a pouch of herringbone weave grass fiber with opening at bottom; two rods about eight inches long covered with red cloth and ending with a white twisted cotton tassel extend from outer corners at bottom of frame four inches; exterior of frame is decorated with cowry shells, attached with thread. |
