Description | Rather hard medium brown wood. Top tapers to a point (like a pike); bottom (below head) is round and not tapered-may have been cut off. Single large head is carvbed in almost full relief about one-third up from bottom. Long narrow face, pierced nose, open mouth. "Ears" are curved bars on either side of head with thick tassels, knotted and braided, of raffia-like riber tied through each. Panel of shallow carving with oval and spiral motifs below head. Style and material resembles 58-17-64. |
