Description | Wooden stool with four staggered braces in which the top and sides are nailed. The braces are fit and pegged to the legs. It is painted orange with traces of blue on top. This stool design was introduced to Mongolia in the 1950s, when they were produced in crafts cooperatives. It shows the change from people sitting on futon-style mats in the Manchu period to factory-made stools. |
