Description | Body tapering to flattened base; neck tapering with everted lip; one loop handle shoulder to neck. decorated with frog in relief opposite handle. Incised and punctate design on upper body on one side only from handle to frog and incomplete at that Wide mouthed jug with a tapering body, flaring collar, flared rim, 1 strap handle extending from the neck to the body, and a flat base. There is a modeled frog in relief on the body near the neck with bands of incised and punctate geometric design around the shoulder. There are traces of white and red paint, possibly in a geometric design on the neck. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing and reducing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is orange and gray in color. The catalogue number is written on the object in black ink. Black ink on the bottom of the base reads: "1892." |
