Description | Red ware, tapering body, swollen neck; two vertical loop handles on body. Two frogs in full relief on shoulder. Narrow-necked jar/bottle with an ovate body, bulging neck, inward sloping rim, 2 strap handles on the body, and a flat base. There are two applique frogs added to the upper body below the neck between the handles. There appears to be a smoothed finish on the exterior. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is orange in color. There are scratches in the surface from finishing?. The catalogue number is written on the object in black ink. Black ink on the bottom of the base reads: "1894." |
