Description

Tall wooden drum with legs. The head is of hide and is held on by wooden pegs, a braided rope of plant fiber, and a thick roll of leather. This drumhead is in excellend condition and is still quite tightly attached. the drum body, legs, and foot are all carved from a single piece of wood. The body is rather roughly finished and is beginning to split in several places; one of these splots has been repaired with six iron struts. There are four carved legs: each leg is in the shape of a short shocky man with a cow's head on top of his head. The cows' heads support the base of the drum. The feet of the men rest on a solid circle of wood which frroms the ring foot of the drum. There is an insription painted on this ring foot.
