Description | Shoulder fragment of a krater. Or an amphora? Cf. MS 4793.8. Interior glazed. To left and above: 2 glazed bands at right angles to one another forming the upper left corner of the frame of a panel. Area above upper band unglazed. In panel, top to bottom: a horizontal band of quirks; a wheel painted line; a horizontal band of quirks; 2 wheel painted lines; part of a set of concentric circles. Brownish-black glaze. Light brown clay, very hard. Large splotches, probably of ink (goes over breaks) on exterior surface. Identification by Nicolas Coldstream on visit 8Apr82. |
