Description

Wooden Katsina doll. A seated figure with brown and white painted skin with horizontal black stripes. A black-and-white striped cap is worn over the head with two vertical projections, each tipped with shreds of brown raffia. Black fur extends from the back of the head down the back of the figure. A necklace of red and blue beads with a large, shell pendant is worn around the neck. Blue shorts are worn over the legs and white moccasins over the feet. A teal cylinder is held in one hand and a slice of watermelon in the other. The rest of the watermelon is held in the figure's lap. This figure is a Hopi Clown (Koshare or Koyala).
