Description | Jemez Black-on-White Revival Olla (pot). Jar/Canteen shape. made of local clays with a thin rag slip and carbon painted designs. Paint made from boiled Rocky Mt. beeweed (cleome) Pot fired in above ground kiln made expressly for the purpose. Body has striped pattern and interchanging circular and sun design. Vertical neck approximatley 3.5 cm. Rounded base approximately 9 cm diameter. Signed on bottom: '09 Paylusayu gingwawa, Jemez. Made by Joshua Madalena |
