Description | Hand held drum (wot). Wood, with lizard skin head. Tapered to "fish tail" bottom, with carved and colored geometric design. (White, black, terra cotta). Note small groove near head, put there by maker to designate the head end while working it. Made by a man from Aekyom (Awin) group, probably in the 1950's. Proper name of this drum is Diap Umgan, "Cassowary Blood." Purchased from Atani Wungmo, Ketbiran clan, Dome village, 8/2/88. |
