Description | Head of male bust. Traces of red color on lips. " male with flattish, nearly triangular face, almond-shaped eyes placed close to the nose, small mouth with thin lips. regular arch of full hair. fairly short, full beard and moustache. short, broad neck. Execution: frontal. summary, crude work. eye arches and nose sharply outlined. plain, protruding eyeballs. eyelids of equal width abut at the nose. ears obliquely cut, not modelled. hair, beard and moustache crudely marked, beard roughened with a flat chisel, moustache marked by vertical cuts, hair textured with a claw-chisel. slight relief-effect on the neck, which is distinctly marked from the shoulders. lips colored." Romano: "Crudely rendered frontal bearded male head with broad, flat features. Above forehead is a full roll of hair treated with broad chiseled gouges and claw chisel. Triangular face; broad, flat forehead; squared-off, elongated nose, flattened on top with no nostrils; sharp brow ridge; large, protruding oval eyes with ridges for lids. No modelling of cheekbones. Chiseled gouges above upper lip to represent moustache. Small lips, slightly parted, downturned. Narrow chin with chiseled gouges to indicate beard. Ears are summarily treated and slightly outurned from sdes of cheeks. Short broad neck with segment of drapery (?) prserved on left side. On right side, neck turns sharply to flat shoulder (?) Roughly chiseled and flattened back. Red pigment well preserved on mouth." |
