Description

Tanbur - Wood, pear-shaped body with ridge at back. Wood belly with 2 discs of mother of pearl on one side. Belly center leads into fingerboard; small holes grouped to form design. Neck has 7 discs of mother of pearl, gut frets (5 remain) fixed metal bridge over which strings pass from pegs. Neck ends in point; no real peg box. 3 t-shaped pegs;2 frontal, 1 lateral. Wire strings. String holder at end of body - wood with 3 grooves.

Poor condition; body back badly cracked; frets loose. cf: Sachs pp. 255-256.
