Description | Made in 4 pieces: body, neck with mouth, handle, and upper attachment. Base of neck now glued to shoulder, the dowels which originally fastened them being lost (the holes for them remain, and match from shoulder to neck flange).Otherwise intact; some dents, good green patina: difference in color between body and neck due to technical reasons: body hammered, neck cast. Globular body pointed toward bottom, on flared ring concave within. Hammered in one piece. Upward tapering straight neck, flanged at bottom to fit over shoulder; trefoil mouth squared at lip and 2.5 mm thick. Upper attachment a bar with rotelles at ends, their faces with engraved rosettes, their edges grooved. Below bar inside a rounded tang dowell to the lip. Above, center, 2 3/4 rosettes; between them a slot for handele end, dowelled in. Handle flat, cast with vertical ribbing on outer face; round tab at bottom, 2 pins. |
