Description | Blackened cooking pot with serpents in relief on shoulder, two horizontal loop handles Cooking pot (olla) with a globular body, bulging collar, rounded rim, 2 horizontal strap handles on the body, and a rounded base. The vessel has two raised snakes along the shoulder and appears to have a slip. The vessel appears to have been smoothed with a rotative movement on the exterior and scraped on the interior. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is orange in color. Evidence of usewear includes soot on the exterior and residue on the interior. There is a black sooty material at the interior as well as exterior. The catalogue number is written in black ink on the interior of the neck. Traces of black ink on the bottom of the base reads: "2733h." |
