Description

Slightly painted cooking pot with four serpents in relief (two on bulging neck, two on shoulder) two horizontal loop handles

Cooking pot (olla) with a globular body, bulging collar, rounded rim, 2 strap handles extending from the neck to the body, and a rounded base. The vessel is painted red with white stripes on the handles. There are four raised snakes in relief on the shoulder and neck. There appears to be a smoothed finish on the exterior and a scraped finish on the interior. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is orange in color. The catalogue number is written on the object in black ink on the bottom of the base. Black ink on the bottom of the base reads: "2733c."
