Description | Obv. 寛永通寳 Kan'ei Tsūhō Rev. 文 Bun. Shin Kanei. These types of coins are said to be made from the dregs of the melted Daibutsu (Great Buddha) housed at the Buddhist temple Hoko-ji (方広寺) and destroyed in an earthquake on June 16, 1662 CE in the Kyoto area. |
