Description | Wood. Oblong, pointed top and bottom. Stained dark brown. Narrow yellowish half section of split bamboo (123 cm.) nailed along center ridge of front. On back a grip, apparently carved from the same piece of wood as the body of the shield. Front and back, yellowish strips of bamboo peel, passing through slits in wood and lashed on with zig zag stitching of narrow brown peel. Five such strips at each end, front and back. Splits in wood at ends, some apparently mended with glue. |
