Description | Large green faience amulet of the goddess Neith suckling two crocodiles. The figure is headless. The goddess wears a long dress and stands with her proper left foot forward. The figure has an uninscribed back pillar with a hole for suspension. The figure is attached to a modern base with a paper label on the proper right side reading "No. 771b/360 ISIS donnant le sein a 2 crocodiles". There is Arabic writing underneath on the base. Although the figure is identified on the label as Isis, this iconography is more certainly that of Neith and the two crocodiles represent Shu and Tefnut. |
