Description | Small conical bowl. Coiled construction, carved and painted. Patterns are faded red, outlined in burnished black. Inside black, shiny. An eating bowl, for individual portions of sago pudding. Supported by a woven fiber ring when in use. The principal design is eight flaring loops, disposed around a center of small concentric circles in such a way as to resemble (from the top) an eight-petalled flower. Small concentric circles between the ends of the petals. Below, around the rim, are curved parallel lines with nested ovals underneath. Virtually all lines are textured with punctate impressions. |
