Description | Shallow conical bowl. Coiled construction, carved. Designs dark terracotta, outlined in burnished black. Inside burnished black. An eating bowl, for individual portions of sago pudding. Supported by a woven fiber ring when in use. Two groupings of four heart-shaped faces, one on each side. The faces are very schematic: just spiral eyes and straight noses. The spaces between the groups of faces are filled with concentric curves and crescents. Most design elements are textured with punctate slashes. Four hairline cracks visible on the inside, one running all the way across. |
