Description | Conical bowl. Coiled construction, carved and painted. Patterns are red, buff, and pink, outlined in burnished black. Inside is dark terracotta with smudged areas from firing. Circa 8 cm. X 4 cm. chip missing from inside surface - colored in. An eating bowl, for individual portions of sago pudding. Supported by a woven fiber ring when in use. Four-lobed design with two nested squares and four black dots in the center. Lobes filled with concentric crescents. Between the lobes, reaching to the rim, are large nested pointed ellipses. Below the lobes, along the rim, are smaller nested ellipses flanked by concentric crescents. Punctate impressions in the outlines of the four lobes and the outlines and centers of the large ellipses. Design similar to that of 2013-20-24. |
