Description | Shallow conical bowl. Coiled construction, carved and painted. Patterns are red, yellow, and white, outlined in burnished black. Inside is terracotta with smudged areas from firing and many white smudgges. "337" in light blue crayon. An eating bowl, for individual portions of sago pudding. Supported by a woven fiber ring when in use. Pattern of four yellow faces with almond eyes, “anchor” noses, and smiling mouths around the circumference. Between the faces, oval spirals. Above the faces, in the center, four ovals, two black with punctate red triangles and two nested white, red and yellow. Faces, spirals, and nested ellipses are textured with tiny round punctate impressions. Design is very similar to that of 2013-20-11. Curved cracks encircling the center. |
