| Description | Conical bowl. Coiled construction, carved and painted. Patterns are red, buff, and white, outlined in burnished black. Inside is terracotta with smudged areas from firing and black and white fingerprints. "903" in red crayon. An eating bowl, for individual portions of sago pudding. Supported by a woven fiber ring when in use. Four faces, two near the center and two near the rim, with opposite orientation. Slanted oval eyes, “anchor” noses, small mouths. In the center, nested squares. Flanking the lower parts of the faces are double rows of concentric crescents. Faces, eyes and nested squares in center are textured with punctate slashes. |
