Description

A pack of playing cards known as Uta-garuta 歌ガルタ “Poetry playing cards” . This pack is specifically called "Hyakunin Isshu karuta" and is based on the Hyakunin Isshu 百人一首 (One Hundred Poets, One Poem Each), a collection of 100 famous poems by 100 famous poets. There are two sets of cards in the pack the yomifuda "reading cards" with the poet pictured and a complete poem and the torifuda "grabbing cards" with the last few phrases of each poem.
