Description | Commercial cotton cloth, resist dyed (batik). Overall pattern of zig-zag bands (cream, dark blue, brown), with small motifs of flowers and leaves. Scattered overall, overlapping the zig-zag bands, sprays of flowers and feathery leaves in light blue and red. Style characteristic of batik made in the area of Pekalungan, on the north coast of Java. An example of batik tiga negeri, sent to be dyed in three places: typically Solo (Surakarta) (brown), Lasem (red), and Demak (blue). . |
