Description | "Soba basket". Shaped like a Japanese lantern. The sides are of fine basketwork in an intricate diamond pattern in black and brown. The cover is of a looser basketwork in tan. The basket stands on a thin wooden hoop about 3.5 cm. high; a similar wooden hoop stands on top of the cover. A leather strap passes under the basket through holes in its sides, through small loops just below the rim, and over the top of the cover, serving as a handle. |
