Description | Fragment of an outside corner from a decorated wall in the palace of Merenptah, Room 7, left side. Incised and filled deocration on one side, consisting of a djed-pillar atop a was-scepter. On the other face is a sunk-relief image of a fertility deitiy (Hapy), with raised-relief internal decoration. Original blue and orange or red paint adheres in small areas. This block probably originated in the doorway from Room 18 to Room 7, in which case the fertility figures face inward toward the throne dais. |
