Description | Stylized horns (kuwagata) designed like antlers that attach to a samurai helmet. Copper-colored metal with a U-shaped base engraved with a flower design. A horn inserts into and is riveted to each end of the base and extends outward. Each horn is shaped like a four-pronged antler. Each end of the base also features a small heart-shaped (inome) cut out. In the center of the base, on the backside, is a rectangular recess where the kuwagata fits onto a post on a helmet. Above this recess is a vertical post where a frontal ornament (maedate) would fit. |
