Description

Large Early-Dynastic wine jar with applied rope decoration around the base and shoulder. Flat narrow base, tapering out to a wide shoulder at about three quarters of the vessel's height. Shoulder curves back to a restricted neck, and a rolled and everted rim. Half of the upper portion of the vessel is missing. Incised pot-mark of a Horus bird standing atop a circle, with another circle to the right near the break. Petrie read this as the royal name Iry-Hor.
