Description | with face Face-neck vessel. Narrow-necked jar/bottle with an ovate body, unknown neck, missing rim, 2 strap handles on the body, and a flat base. The vessel has a modeled and incised face on the neck with ears, eyes, nose, and mouth. There are punctate dots with incised lines decorating the neck. There appears to be a roughly burnished finish on the exterior. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is orange in color. Fireclouding is present on the body. The catalogue number is written on the bottom of the base. Pencil on the body reads: "1161a." |
