Description | Three fragments of vessels ornamented with faces in the coast style Fragments. There are three fragments: a flaring neck fragment (A), a face neck fragment with only the ear ornament (B), and a small face fragment ( C). The fragments include two face neck pieces- one of a modeled/molded face and the other with an ear ornament depicted. The third and largest fragment has a molded face applied on the neck and two ear spools. All fragments have painted decoration. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is orange and gray in color. The fragments vary in fabric type from oxidized orange paste to a partially oxidized and reduced paste varying in color from gray to orange. The catalogue number is written on the fragments. Black ink on the fragments reads: "2404." |
