Description | Square shaped wooden pigment box with lid; both rim of lid and box are slanted; box is ornamentally decorated withan intertwining zigzag design; knob protrudes from center of lid; six interlacing diamonds are carved around the knob (cross hatch pattern in background); there is a hole in the rim above the knob and a second hole on the back side of box; two pieces of twisted fiber are tied together through the two holes; interior of box has a red hue and pigment is caked onto the sides; exterior is dark brown. Lid: Itoto, Imbolo bordered with Masoko and Bisha Masombo. |
