Description | The coffin of the the chantress of the Pure Foundation of Ptah,Taperet is an inner, anthropoid, bivalve wooden coffin, richly decorated with unusual iconography on the exterior of the lid and case. The relatively shallow lid and case are almost equal in depth, and the case is not flat on the exterior bottom but rather is shaped to conform to the profile of a mummy. Of note is the contrasting decorative scheme of the lid and case. Much of the decoration of the lid is executed with a dark color on a light background. Interestingly, the reverse color scheme is employed on the case, where the decoration is largely light on a dark background. |
