Description

Box for pack of 120 playing cards. The Mantri cards all depict a horseman galloping, shouldering a spear. They are barefoot and wear a flat Maratha turban. The horses are white except for Rama and Varaha suits. All cards have a simple border of two rings and the lower segment of the courts is decorated with three small squiggles. There is one suit sign on the mantris and none on the rajas. All the suit signs are arranged in formal circular patterns on the numeral cards. The ones and twos have a double circle around the suit signs. The suit signs are as follows: fish on red background, turtle on red background, boar on yellow background, lion on green background, water pot on green background, axe on brown background, bow and arrow on yellow background, quoit on brown background, conch shell on black background and a sword on a black background.
